5p Bus staff received school uniform donations from Gentoo

Our 5p Bus is helping families in need with their 'back to school' preparations thanks to a partnership with Sunderland-based organisation, Gentoo.

Over the last month, Gentoo staff have been busy collecting items of school uniform after they voted to do something to support St Cuthberts Care's charitable work. The aim is to make the uniforms available to parents who are struggling to make ends meet and we were delighted when we were approached about distributing them through our 5p Bus.

"We provide families and individuals with thousands of items each month through our 5p Bus project," said 5p Bus Manager, Iris Boyd, "so, it made perfect sense to add the school uniforms to the clothing available. Household budgets are already stretched to the limit for many families and affording school uniforms can be an additional burden. I'd like to thank the staff at Gentoo for their kindness and generosity in helping us to support the communities we serve."

School skirts, trousers, blouses, shirts and PE kits are among the items that will be available on the 5p Bus until the end of the month. Each item costs just 5p.
