Give a little extra for those in need this Christmas

Christmas presents in Santa's sack

St Cuthberts Care staff and supporters of our 5p Bus are being asked to donate a gift this Christmas for children whose parents find making ends meet a daily struggle.

The added expense of providing a family with gifts at Christmas can become an overwhelming burden for families who have little or no money and our annual appeal asks those who can afford it to add an extra gift to their shopping list.

"Many of us take it for granted that we'll find an exciting new gift under the tree on Christmas morning, but some children aren't so lucky," said 5p Bus Manager, Iris Boyd. "As our thoughts turn towards family and giving this year, we ask that people think of those who have little or no money to spend on presents and donate a new toy or gift to our appeal."

The 5p Bus Toy Appeal runs right up to the day before Christmas Eve and toys and gifts for children and teenagers would be gratefully received. Each one will be distributed on our 5p Bus as it travels around the region.

You can drop off donations at St Cuthberts Care head office, West Road, Newcastle or at Holy Cross Nursing Home, Ettrick Grove, Sunderland. Please contact Iris Boyd for details of opening hours, telephone 0191 228 0111 or email
