Mini Vinnies from St Wilfrids

Enterprising youngsters from Blyth have been using their entrepreneurial skills to make money to help those who are struggling to make ends meet.

A group of pupils from St Wilfrid's Primary School used a Virgin Money initiative as the seed fund to grow their investments which they then donated to St Cuthberts Care's 5p Bus project.

The Mini Vinnies, the children's section of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, the benevolent Catholic organisation, made their money through having a cake stall to sell sweet treats and donated a total of £685 to the charity.

Fundraising manager, Nicola Milne, said: "It's great to see young people choosing to help others less fortunate. The Mini Vinnies' donation will go towards helping to keep our community clothing distribution service on the road."
