Michael Dickson donation to 5p bus

St Cuthberts Care's 5p Bus is the final destination for a donation of socks, hats and sleeping bags which have already voyaged around the world.

Michael Dickson, the Managing Director of the North East pork butchers company, Dickson's, donated two kit bags full of walking clothes, waterproofs and cold weather wear to the charity to distribute via our mobile service to needy communities around the region.

"The bags have travelled with me to some distant destinations and sat on the backs of yaks, mules and porters!" said Mr Dickson, who is a St Cuthberts Care Trustee. "They have been on various adventures in the Lakes and worldwide and are perfectly serviceable but are now surplus to my requirements."

Mr Dickson handed over his well-travelled donations at our 5p Bus depot based in the Holy Cross home site in Sunderland where they will be sorted before setting out on the last leg of their journey aboard our bus.

The 5p Bus Manager Iris Boyd said: "We are delighted to accept the items - with winter just around the corner so many people will be very grateful for the extra warmth they will provide."
