Volunteers and guests from St Mary’s Tea Drop Inn have enjoyed their first day trip out together by hitting the shops on the north and south side of the Tyne.

First stop was Royal Quays shopping outlet in North Shields where they made the most of hunting for bargains in the dozens of shops. Then it was back onto the minibus for more chatting and socialising before sampling the shopping in South Shields.

“It was a gorgeous, sunny day and everyone had such a great time,” said volunteer co-ordinator, Janice. “There was lots of chatting and lots of shopping – perfect really!.”

Most of the people who go to the Tea Drop Inn have found new friends there and are now able to enjoy socialising every week. As well as their regular get-togethers, they’re also looking forward to planning their next trip out.
