Volunteers about to open a new tea club for elderly, isolated or lonely people in Jesmond are grateful to Newcastle City Learning for providing them with free food safety awareness training.

The short course looked at good practice when handling, preparing and serving food and will stand them in good stead when they start serving their high teas at the end of April in the church hall at Holy Name.

β€œThe course was easy to follow and all of us really enjoyed it", said Sue Jamieson, one of the tea club volunteers. β€œ Not only was it helpful, but we got a chance to chat and get to know each other a bit – and we were given some lovely chopping boards for when we start up!”
