Volunteers wanted for our new PACE project at Holy Cross Care Home

January 2013

St Cuthberts Care's Community Services team is building on its success with Open House, a café-style drop in centre in Sunderland, by launching a new Lunch Club within Holy Cross Care Home.

Open House, a PACE (Parish and Community Enablement) project, was established in St Mary's church hall in Bridge Street, with the help of a team of 25 volunteers, just over a year ago. The service offers a safe, warm and comfortable environment serving hot drinks, sandwiches and snacks to those who are homeless, isolated, living with addiction, or are without an income.

Encouraged by the continued and dedicated support of those local volunteers we are now working with St Mary's parish to offer a new service in the city. The Lunch Club will be open several days a week in the comfortable surroundings of Holy Cross Care Home, offering older people company, conversation and companionship as well as meals, entertainment and activities.

If you can spare some time on a regular basis and are interested in joining our new team of volunteers we would be delighted to hear from you.
