Stockton Council supports volunteers with free training

11 December 2013

Donations of food

Staff from Stockton Council have pulled out all the stops to support a team of new volunteers who will soon be running a regular, weekly drop-in café for homeless people in the area.

The council has provided a number of free places on their food safety training course, which will equip the volunteers with all the essential information they need to serve free hot food and drinks at their Words of Welcome drop-in.

The free places are a massive boost to the project, which relies entirely on donations of food and the generous time of the volunteers.

The Words of Welcome drop-in café will open for the first time on 13 December in St Cuthbert's Church, Yarm Road, Stockton and will then be held every Friday between 11am and 2pm.
