Dozens of packets, tins, jars and boxes of food have been delivered to Sunderland Open House, after staff from Gentoo held a massive appeal to help the homeless project.

The donation drive got underway after staff found out that their colleague, Peter Hill, regularly donated to Open House and wanted to help out, too. Soon, Peter's boss, Steven Gordon had the whole neighbourhood team involved.

After holding a 'Beans for Jeans' day, the food donations have flooded in and every item has been gratefully receive by the volunteers running Open House. Everything will now be used to make delicious meals and snacks and served to people who are homeless and in need who attend the project each week.

As well as donations of food, Gentoo has also donated £50 to the project from its Community Fund and a further £50 which has been donated by staff.

Handing over the donations, Peter Hill said, "It's been my pleasure to help out and we all really appreciate the work being done here. You can really see the difference it is making."

Gentoo have volunteered to continue supporting Sunderland Open House with the remaining teams joining in with the donation drive next year.
