No sting in the tail for lunch club gathering

Joan cooking lunch

When a wasps' nest was discovered in St Robert's Parish Hall recently, volunteers were determined it wouldn't ruin the weekly lunch club.

All the ingredients needed to make a tasty lunch were safely transported around the corner to the presbytery kitchen while the guests settled themselves into the beautiful church coffee shop where lunch was served.

Despite the unfamiliar kitchen, former caterer, Joan Dimambro and her fellow volunteers presented a delicious choice of stewed steak or vegetable stew and blackberry and apple pie or plum crumble with custard. Everything was served with the usual fun, conversation and laughter and there was still plenty of time for quizzes and bingo, too.

Guests and volunteers had such a good time in the coffee shop that they've decided to relocate the lunch club there!
