New drop-in café for homeless planned

26 September 2013

St Cuthberts Church, Stockton

A drop-in café for homeless people and those struggling to make ends meet will be opening soon in Stockton.

Offering food and refreshments and a friendly welcome, the project will be held in St Cuthberts Church on Yarm Road in Stockton.  Once open, it will be the third Parish and Community Enablement (PACE) project to support people in desperate need, joining Worswick Welcome  in Newcastle and Open House in Sunderland.

Parish priest at St Cuthberts and St Patricks Churches, Fr John Cooper, was delighted when St Cuthberts Care approached him about the project and has offered his full support.

We will be working with both parishes and Fr Cooper to recruit and support volunteers to run the drop-in and we'll keep you up-to-date on progress.
