Colin Murray presents Kathleen Urwin with a cheque

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Hirst Progressive Social Club in Ashington for their long-standing support, having fundraised for us for more than 20 years.

Vice Chair, Colin Murray presented Community Services Manager, Kathleen Urwin, with the cheque for £1000 on Sunday the 30 December. Colin explained that a group of members of the social club, who met every Sunday morning, raised the money throughout the year and were keen for it to help children who are homeless or those who have significant needs. He added that the club members were delighted to be involved in such a good cause and that they knew that St Cuthberts Care would use the donation wisely.

Kathleen said "We are so pleased that the group have continued in their annual tradition of fundraising for us. The money will significantly help children, young people and families in the greatest need".

Continuing their fundraising, the group have already started their new collection. To find out more about the work of our Community Services team please contact Kathleen by telephone on 0191 2280111 or by emailing her at
