Angel Tree gifts 2013

Pupils from St Wilfred's RC College have been spreading joy to children throughout the diocese.

Children at the South Shields school raise funds and buy presents through their annual Angel Tree project, supporting St Cuthberts Care's community services which distributes the gifts in areas of deprivation around the region. And this year the school has made another great effort.

St Cuthberts Care Schools Liaison Executive, Nicola Milne, thanked the pupils, telling them that there was a real and immediate need for charitable help this year.

"This week we have helped place a child in foster care and supported families fleeing from domestic violence. Some children's lives have been turned upside down and to receive these gifts from you at such a traumatic time gives hope and a sense of normality," she said.

Pupils presented their gifts at an assembly on the last day of term, for Santa's little helpers at St Cuthberts Care to distribute them in time for Christmas.
