Building work can't stop dedicated volunteers

August 2012

Alterations to St Andrew's Church in Newcastle haven't stopped the team of dedicated volunteers at Worswick Welcome drop-in café from continuing to provide essential food and refreshments for some of the most needy people in the community.

Despite weeks of building work and additional demands placed on the parish hall, volunteers have been arriving earlier to set up the drop-in café to make sure this essential service is still there for those who rely on it each week.

After serving hundreds of snacks and refreshments and taking the time to chat with guests, the busy volunteers have then continued to work hard, quickly transforming the parish hall from the bustling café environment into a peaceful place for afternoon Mass.

Building work to St Andrew's Church is now complete and Worswick Welcome is back to its usual time of 10am to 1.30pm every Friday.

Welcome, new volunteers

A warm Worswick Welcome goes to Tony and James who have joined the regular team of volunteers at the drop-in café at St Andrew's Church in Worswick Street each Friday.
