Open House, Open Hearts at St Bede's

St Bede's Open House in Bedlington recently celebrated six months of bringing joy, friendship and comfort into people's lives since they first opened their doors.

More than 20 regular guests, ten volunteers and Parish Priest, Father Chris Hughes hosted a special event to mark the occasion and give thanks for the positive contributions the social evening has made on their lives. Wansbeck MP, Ian Lavery was guest speaker and hosted a question and answer session about issues affecting local people.

During the evening, regular guest, Jean Hedley spoke from the heart about those who dedicated themselves to providing the weekly social evening: "I am sure that I speak for everyone here when I say we have all enjoyed every single night of St Bede's Open house. On behalf of us all, I would like to thank the volunteers who work so hard for our benefit."

Open House is run entirely by local volunteers who give their time every week to provide a social evening for people from the local community who are elderly, isolated or lonely.

It is held every Tuesday between 10am and 2pm costs just £2 per person and anyone who would like to come along should contact Open House on 01670 823258.
