Annual Good Shepherd Appeal launched

January 2012

Our annual Good Shepherd Appeal has just been launched to primary and secondary schools around the region to engage pupils in supporting our 5p Bus service. Our excellent links with Chaplains and Head Teachers around the region has led to strong support for the appeal.

Starting on Ash Wednesday, pupils will be working hard to raise funds and collect donations for the two buses, which currently help around 12000 people a year. Schools will be raising funds by holding non-uniform days, collecting as many 5p coins as possible in our 5p Challenge or organising their own fund raising initiatives. In return, pupils will gain first-hand experience of how we are helping to address the effects of poverty in our region by visiting the buses at work or helping at our clothes sorting depot.

At the end of the appeal, schools will have the opportunity to come together to give thanks for the contributions in a series of Good Shepherd Masses. We'll bring you regular updates from the Good Shepherd Appeal as it progresses.

If you would like to help with any of our Community Services projects, visit our volunteer page or our 5p Bus page for more information.
