5p Bus spreads Christmas joy

December 2012

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to our regular supporters and donators, including the parishes and schools throughout the diocese, for their constant goodwill throughout the year and for the contributions they have made to this year's 5p Bus Toy Appeal.

In these times of austerity, more and more families are struggling to afford the luxury of Christmas presents, so the toys and gifts available on the 5p Bus may be the only ones under many trees this year.

Hundreds of donated toys and gifts are distributed by the 5p Bus during December, helping to spread some Christmas joy among families living in poverty around the region.

But it isn't just the families and children visiting the 5p Bus in person who benefit from the toys and gifts donated for Christmas.  Because of our close links with other local agencies and organisations, many items also make their way to families living through a crisis, such as those fleeing domestic violence or coping with adversity in their lives.  Without the gifts provided through the 5p Bus service, they, too, could be facing a bleak Christmas.

As well as toys and gifts, the bus continues to provide the essential clothing, so desperately needed, keeping families, individuals and children clothed and warm.

If you would like to support or donate to our 5p Bus please contact Iris Boyd on 0191 242 4803 or email her at iris.boyd@stcuthbertscare.org.uk.
